"Marginally Employed"

The U6 unemployment rate is the total of:

Unemployment
Marginally employed
Part time employed
And people who are way more capable than of the job they're working at.

In short, the "under-employment rate."

I occasionally like to keep my eye on it to see how it's going, and shucks howdy, look at that!  It's FINALLY below it's previous high back in 1995!

Great work guys!

Now just remember.  Don't go asking about those nasty 40's and 50's when you could get a full time job right out of high school and that job would support you and a family.  Those were nasty, evil, racist, sexist times.

ink...i think It's kinda meaningless since it has always been higher, understandably. You could even create a category 'people who hate their bosses' or 'people hate to commute' and get readings near 100% lol

Yay, we must be in recovery!

Does this mean we can forget about all those the long-term discouraged (> 1 yr) workers that the official U6 deliberately excludes?

While I don't doubt the general accuracy of the figures (simple observation confirms them), I'm suspiciius enough of federal statistics o employment to know that relying on them for an accurate picture is dangerous.

Heck, back in the 40's and 50's, you could support your family doing stuff like delivering milk door-to-door.
